I made an offer on a house, yesterday. It was built in 1949 and has a great lot and nice bones. The biggest problem that I can see, is that a 6 foot high block wall was erected around the perimeter of the backyard. I'm sure they didn't get a permit. It does not cross the property line, but the wall bows in and out. Some of the blocks seem to be loose. //i think there might be a dog situation next door, so the wall is there for a reason.
Any thoughts or suggestions?

Obviously whoever built the wall did not do a good job. Now you have to decide if it needs to replaced or can it be repaired? What is the cost of each? If they did not get a permit, you may be required to bring it up to code.

If this is going to be a rental or flip house, you may have some liability if the wall comes down and hurts some one (or the dog next door).

Either way it will need to be repaired.
