Default Questions for Pet Sitters/Dog Walkers in PHX area

This post is for all the professional pet sitters and dog walkers in the Phoenix area

I am seriously considering relocating my pet sitting business from Denver to Phoenix this spring/summer. Despite the recent economic downturn, my business is still striving. I rarely have a full day off (maybe once a month).

The reasons that I am thinking of moving is for change of scenery. I've been to Phoenix twice on vacation and loved the landscape. Colorado is beautiful, but I think it would be cool to live the desert life for awhile. And the other reason I am moving is because of the snow. Denver doesn't get as much snow as people think, but being a pet sitter I have to be out there walking dogs in all kinds of weather extremes. And, the cold just doesn't do me well anymore. I have never been to Phoenix when it was over 105 degrees. But, here in Denver I absolutely love the summer and have no problem being outside in 90+ weather. Most of my friends hate the heat. But, they go from a/c house to a/c car to a/c work. Not me. I'm out in it all day long.

Regarding the pet sitting/dog walking profession in Phoenix...is it still striving? Do you keep busy all the time? Is it your only full time job? What do you do when you have to walk dogs in the middle of the summer when it is over 100 degrees? Do you still walk them for 30+ minutes? Or, do they just get small potty breaks and the rest of the visit is back indoors? How about travel times? Do you cover all of the Phoenix area? Or, just certain parts of the Valley area? Would you care for a pet in Surprise, then travel to Gilbert for your next pet visit without thinking twice about it?

Any suggestions, tips, ideas, dangers, etc. would be greatly appreciated.

Yeah, the people in Phoenix are no making millions walking other people's dogs. It has become a huge business. Seriously, is this a joke post or something? You realize striving means struggling, correct?

I apologize. I meant "thriving".
