We're going to relocate to Scottsdale from Florida, and are doing a house hunting. Since we want to send our kids to Sonoran Sky Elementary School, we'll have to find a house in that school area. Our realtor sent us some houses, most of which are in Buenavante subdivision. Does anyone know if that neighborhood is a safe and kids-friendly place? (Since it's close to the airport and the airpark, we have some concerns about safety and noise controls.) Are the residences there most retirees or young couples with school age kids? Well, any comments will be very welcome, even on other aspects of this neighborhood and the school.

I'm sorry I can't comment on the "kid-friendly" stuff, but that is a very convenient location (NE corner of Cactus and Scotts. Rds., right?)....it looks like just another somewhat older, decent family-ish 'hood in Scottsdale...have your realtor help you with very recent comps so you don't pay too much....and Cactus has become a very busy road since 51 opened up down the road....it doesn't look like the 'hood is directly underneath the approach to the airport, so noise may not be horrible....spend some time there, though, to see what it's like while you tour the houses....flight paths can always be changed as the need dictates, too....

Good to know the Cactus road becomes busy. Thanks, azdr. The houses there are definitely more expensive than in Florida.

It's a nice area and like many places in Scottsdale and N. Phoenix around there, you will have a pretty equal mix of retirees and families with children (probably 60/40). Yes, you'll hear small private planes flying above but I don't see that as a big deal....and it's a safe area.
