Okay, since none of the pool people will tell me much of anything before I sit down with them, can anyone give me guesstimates on what a pool is going to cost me when we build?
My lot is going to be your typical 7500-10000 sq foot lot, so I'm assuming the pool won't be Olympic sized...and yes, I know there are about a thousand variables here, but...let's just say for the sake of argument: Bean shaped pool roughly 25' X 30' at it's widest spots water leveler automated chlorinator Basically very low maintenance I don't know the difference between reg and salt water pool..anyone??? 10K, 20K, more???? |

$35,000-$45,000 on the average.

I thought it would be on the higher end.....at least I'll be prepared...no sticker shock then....who knows what silly extra they might sell me on though...

Agree with Nitram's estimate...
We have a Shasta play pool, salt water, Shasta-tec (Shasta's version of pebble tec), in-ground cleaning system, pool fence, Cool-dec, higher wall on one side with 3 foot long "water fall" (just an opening that water comes out, nothing elaborate and not something we'd do again b/c it doesn't add much to the pool, IMO), free form shape with widened second step for play area....that's about it - and it was around 40K. If you want low maintenance, I'd recommend salt water and in ground cleaning system - both are fabulous! |

Thanks so far people...
I think what Boatdrinks has is what we were/are looking at, with the exception of maybe the waterfall. Should still be pretty nice/fun for the family don't you guys think? Is the saltwater version more expensive? Or just different? |

Damn, pools cost that much these days? I remember my parents got a pool at our old houe, probably about 10 years ago, and it was around $15,000 or so.
I thought for $40k you could get a negative edge or something along those lines, guess not huh? |

I'm hoping to stay around $30K...but then again, I'm a silly MidWesterner...what do I know.....besides snowshovels and lawnmowers and such....

Don't worry, I thought the same thing. You still find coupons and ads for $20k, what's with that?

Yea, I'm looking at an ad right now...
$21,695 80' perimeter pool 25 sq ft rock waterfall Pebble interior finish and pool light All plumbing etc ...and it also has an offer for free salt system. I thought prices were more along these lines, not $40k. |

Usually the pool ads for $20k or less are extremely limited and featureless, and also require a lot of maintenance. It is a sales pitch used to draw customers into the office/showrooms.
My neighbor has a PebbleTec pool with the inground cleaning system (popups, not the snake vacuum) and it is salt-water based. I would definately suggest going with those options for less maintenance -- but it will cost more $$. Also, if you can wait, try buying in December/January. You can get much better deals during the off season. |
