Default Please help-moving to Phoenix soon!

Hello all,
Right now I could really use a lot of help. I just took a job in Phoenix and I will be starting next month. The job is located just north of downtown off Indian School Road. I am looking for a one bedroom apartment in the $600-$700 range ($750 max) that is hopefully not more than 20 minutes from where I will be working. I just graduated college in Missouri and will be living on my own as a 22 year old female in a new city. I am looking for a decent apartment in a decent neighborhood. I understand that I won't be able to afford a top notch place with my current budget, but I'm sure there has to be something that will be reasonable for my situation. I have read many other posts that people have writting on other topics and all of the information is so overwhelming considering there are bad and good places in nearly every comminuty surrounding Phoenix. If anyone knows of any specific apartment complexes I could take a look at I would greatly appreciate it. I'm not too picky on where I live as long as it is a decent neighborhood in my price range. Thanks for any help you can give me! I will be so greatful!

W Indian School or East Indian school? Check out the Biltmore club. My sister used to live there years ago and it was a nice place.

Sorry, it is near Indian School Rd. and 13th Ave. I'm not sure if that is East or West...Thanks for the suggestion on Biltmore club. I'll look into that!

That would be west as the avenues are in the west and the streets are in the east. 13th ave and Indian school is not a good area. You may want to drive a little farther to get into a better area, that's if your price range permits. Maybe, just maybe Metrocenter Mall area might be better. I normally never recommend that area. I'll think about what areas would be better that are your price.

Ok, forget Metrocenter. I would recommend the area that I grew up in, it's up in NE Phx, bordering Scottsdale. The prices are at $700-750 for the smallest 1 bedroom. The area is so much better than most you will find closer to work. It will put your commute closer to 30 mins most likely though, but safety is important. There are numerous apartments to choose from in this area. Look up the zip 85032, or NE Phx on rent.com. The best apt up there in your range would be The Palisades. They are newer than the rest. This area is across from the PV Mall and so much other shopping. It's a great area.

I lived many years in this area. The last time we lived there was about 3-4 years ago, but our apt went condo and were selling for $300k! So, we moved as that was a lot back then.

Thanks for the advice. I knew I did not want to live anywhere near this area, but I wasn't sure where to look. If I can find something in my price range I think that area sounds good. Any other suggestions or places to look into? There are so many things to take into consideration! Scottsdale is ideal but it's a little pricey for my budget!

I completely agree with sablebaby. Check out 85032. There is a mall there called Paradise Valley Mall. There are streets that circle the mall and there are a lot of nice complexes in that area. I know one of the complexes is called Greenspoint Apartments. (You can google their web page. I don't think I'm supposed to give it out.) Anyway, if you are looking at the map, the general area is going to be near Cactus and Tatum roads. You will be in a nice area and close enough to drive to your business or to Scottsdale within a reasonable period of time. Good luck.

Okay, looked into that area (85032). Seems like a nice area and within reasonable distance to work. I found a few apartment complexes that seem nice, and within my budget. If you know anything about any of these please let me know. Alegria at Paradise Valley apartments are in 85028. These were a little cheaper...might be a caution sign?? Other apartments I saw that I liked in 85032 were Rancho Sierra, Villa Encanto, Paradise Trails, and then The Palisades. Suggestions, advice?? This is all helping a lot. Also, how bad is the traffic on the 51? THANKS AGAIN!

Hi Sara,

I just looked up Alegria at Paradise Valley and their website shows 85032. But regardless of the zip code I think the area is fine. I don't know anything about those particular apartments, however. I don't live in the area anymore, so I don't feel qualified to comment on the traffic.

you are right. Rancho Sierra apartments were the ones in 85028. I mixed those up! Thanks for checking though.
