Tonight I saw my dogs playing with something on the ground. They were being very intense about it. I called them and called them, but they ignored me. After a minute, they finally came. When they did, my Brittany dropped a dead scorpion at my feet.

Obviously, my stingy little friend was not alone.

I checked the dogs for signs of a sting, then I went on the hunt with a portable black light. This is what I found

I collected these guys outside (approximately a dozen, but I wasn't separating them out and counting) in the span of an hour, all within a couple hundred yards of the house.

Joy.

WOW! What a surprise you had! They look big! The only ones I have seen were little, tiny guys spinning around in circles.

Ah...My 2 year-old Brittany also found 2-3 bark scorpions in our house this summer. A good portable black light is our best friend during this time of the year. We do scorpion hunting inside the house once every 2-3 nights. We found 2 more adult bark scorpions last night.

OMG if that would have happened to me I would have left Phoenix years ago. I've never seen a scorpion.
