Finding things to do
I'm kind of new to phoenix, and am having trouble finding things to do. Does anyone here have recommendations of places to look for stuff to do on the weekends?

On a rotation, one of the regulars with a nice house should have a Bar-B-Q party at their place and invite others from the forum for company!
Wouldn't that be fun? Hehe...

The media recommendations above are the best places to start for event listings. The main challenge is that things wind down during the summer due to the heat. Abundant hiking trails are one of the Phoenix area's greatest assets, but it's feasible to hike only in the early morning this time of year, and most hiking clubs go on hiatus now or plan daytrips to northern Arizona.
Likewise, most performing arts organizations and sports leagues are less active now. I'd suggest focusing on indoor activities -- movies, museums, restaurants, etc. -- for the next few months and then turning more to the outdoors in October when the heat subsides. You might also use the summer months for some weekend road trips to northern Arizona, where you can escape the heat and see some incredible scenery.

Sunsplash, Big Surf, swim in your pool, take a trip to Vegas, Ft McDowell, take in a Diamondbacks game, look at model homes.

We went to a great spot in Phoenix to eat last night. Highly recommend Papadeauxs off of I-17 and Peoria. Serves cajun style seafood, steaks, gumbo, poboys etc. Best salmon we have had in years. Lots of sports celebs go there during training so it is great for young people.

How are the prices? Are they reasonable cause I would like to try the place since it is fairly close to where I live but I do not want to end up washing to dishes to pay the bill!!
