I never really liked it in AZ but this has to be the kicker. I got a jury summons days before I was scheduled to leave AZ forever. I sent it back in time with my forwarding address across the country. Today, I just got a forwarded denial from the County stating that I had to appear on the scheduled date, which of course was over a week ago! I called the County and thankfully they never called my number, but conceivably I could have had a warrant out for my arrest in that stupid state because the morons who run that state (obviously products of the wonderful state public school system there) didn't believe that people actually move away from AZ.
What a truly fitting end to my experience with that place. Good riddance! |

Wow, talk about bad timing, eh? Is there any way you can check with the court house if you have a warrant out, and maybe clear that mess up?

I called them and got the name of the woman I talked to. She said that there wasn't an issue because they never called my juror number. But if I get another notice regarding anything I am going to send them a copy of my last pay stub with a MA address on it, along with the her name and where she worked. If there is a warrant I'm going to have her job.

All Maricopa County residents are obligated by state law to serve as a juror.
You are not a resident of Maricopa County. Additionally: A juror who is summoned and who willfully and without reasonable excuse fails to appear for jury service may be found by the court to be in contempt and subject to penalties provided by law. Not living in the state would likely be considered a reasonable excuse. Further, contempt charges on failure to appear for jury duty never happen. Unless you are served a summons by a Peace Officer, or receive your jury notice via certified mail, the court would have a hard time proving you ever even received that piece of mail. Much ado about nothing. |

You're not alone. Arizona keeps mailing me family court correspondence for a child that is no longer with us (3 years now), as well as something about owing state tax for a year in which I was well below the poverty line. After a while, I just used what they mailed me as toilet paper and did a return to sender - I haven't gotten anything since.

I'm not worried about it, but it made me angry. Threatening me with that stuff simply was the straw that broke the camels back on my hatred of that place. Funny thing was that I was, just for a second, reminiscing about a few of the things I liked about it. Then I got this thing and it jolted me back into reality! |

You'd have to live in Maricopa County again. ![]() |

The sad thing is the way the states are connected now, when you go to get your drivers liscence it may be denied because you have a warrant in AZ.
I was denied my drivers liscence in Oregon because I had a "failure to appear" warrant in South Carolina from about 6 years earlier! I had to pay a fine to the State of South Carolina (of which I was never a resident) in order to get cleared for an Oregon DL. Ah, the Government. ![]() |
