So after everyone's help on deciding on where we will live, we decided Dobson Ranch. It is close to my husbands work which is located at US 60 and I 10 crossing. For a couple years I will be going to ASU at the downtown Phoenix campus. The commute after looking at it was not bad 35 minutes, and for my husband about 20.

I am just wondering, about the future of course. Is there anywhere in Phoenix that is a better place to live that has easy access to get to downtown Phoenix, and the surrounding areas? I just don't want to buy something that works commute wise for only the 2 years I will be in grad school. Wondering if there is a well known "centrally" located area? Thanks to you all as always!

Yes, central Phoenix of course. In all honesty, most neighborhoods up and down the 51 b/w the 202 and 101 is the most central in the valley, and at least to the west (PV, Scottsdale) are the most expensive.

Dobson Ranch? Not exactly a super nice area. Certainly not my first choice. Chandler, Scottsdale, East Mesa, are all better choices.

I am, interested in why you no longer like Dobson Ranch? Obviously there are many nice areas that are 35 minute commute to ASU.

You need to decide just what your criteria really is then visit those areas, research them, investigate the schools, etc. But decide for yourself after researching. Don't use the opinions of people who are partial to their own neighborhoods.

Remember the 3 most important rules of Real Estate, Location, Location, Location. Unfortunately too many people today think it is Price, Price, Price (it isn't).
