I am plannning on moving to Phoenix in the near future. I work in the restaurant industry so I will probably end up in the Scottsdale area. I will be renting an apartment. What are the best places? and which are the areas to avoid....I like new, clean and safe...Thanks, MA

If you are going to be working in Scottsdale, I would live there also if you can afford it.

How many bedrooms are you looking for? A couple of years ago i rented an apartment near Kierland Commons (Scottsdale rd/greenwayparkway) in North scottsdale. A 1br was 807 for a 9 month lease. It was a decent size, had a nice balcony, a sand beach at the pool. directly across from the Westin. It was cool when the Patriots came for the Superbowl they rented out the ENTIRE hotel....Rooms there are like $450 each. We got onto the property and saw Tom Brady trying to work out his bum leg before we got scared off by security lol.

Anyways, I would try to stay around scottsdale or possibly near Desert Ridge (off of the Loop 101). All of those areas are new/safe/clean.
There are other places on the west side of town but it will be more of a commute, and of course you can go down toward tempe as well, but most of that is older homes.

And where have you been in Tempe that you think most of it is "older homes"??? I suppose it makes some difference what you mean by "older".

The OP is looking for an apartment, first of all, not a home, and those are available in Tempe in all age ranges. There are some new ones, for instance, on the north edge of town near the lake and Papago Park.

Tempe is landlocked, yes, but there is new, and newer, construction there both in terms of apartments or homes
