Are there good condos, apartments, or rental homes near old town, Waterfront, the fashion square, or Downtown in general? How expensive would they be compared to other parts and are the neighborhoods pretty clean and crimeless?

More expensive because you'd be close to all the Hot Spots!!!!!!

But there are some quiet Neighborhoods close to Downtown Scottsdale - you just have to know where to look. They're still more costly than average I'm sure because of Location.

Actually there are properties in all price ranges, many within walking distance to downtown.

What do you want? An inexpensive co-op from $30K? A 1BD/1BA from $50K? A luxury condo in Optima Camelview from $330K?

There are many very nice 2BD/2BA in the $120K - 200K range.

PS: Free Beatle album with each purchase

I know the Waterfront district has some midrise condos that I'm sure are on the expensive side ... however, you might be able to find one for a reduced price because of the market slump. Are you looking for something right in the downtown area, or more off to the side?

It's funny this was brought up because I was in downtown Scottsdale this evening having a night out with my mother, my girlfriend & her mother, and I noticed that there are some pretty well kept neighborhoods just to the west of Fashion Square, Waterfront, and the Old Town areas. They appear to be older homes & apartments, but they are very pristine considering their age. It might be wise to invest in an older place for better quality construction, and possibly a reduced price.

2. $50K to $4M

3. clean 'hoods and lowish crime....but you gotta be aware of your surroundings and use common sense, as you need to be everywhere

Sorry I didn't respond until now, been really busy. Looking for something inexpensive but reasonable. I thought with the recent foreclosures and down market that things would be pretty affordable for something on the nice side. Could I find anything like this near Downtown Scottsdale? Not looking for luxurious, just middle to high-middle end. Oh and I have all the Beatles albums I could ever need, even some rare vinyl copies.

Plenty of nice areas can be found all over Scottsdale, not just around downtown.

But be careful.

You can find just as nice in many other parts of the valley for a lower price. It's more expensive to live in Scottsdale because you're paying for the prestige of the city's name and location.
