I'm guessing these a are single shot since it looks like the program is designed to make HDR out of a single shot.

No, they are only single exposures, but there are various choices in the program that give different effects, plus pretty much everything is adjustable to suit your taste....Not too bad for a program that is only 123 KB and free.

A drop better but the details are still lost and soft looking...faces are indistinct and almost blurry.. still has a wierd color cast.it just seems to have a lack of overall crispness ......

i would suggest 2 to try the free trials, hdr darkroom or photomatix and try 3 individual images +2-0- (-2)....

if you need help with the sliders ill guide you.

The photo was out of focus to begin with, so I can't expect perfection..

I would recommend getting 3 good exposures mounted on a tripod and then play from there... its to hard to see whats going on in the beginning if the pictures arent good for the process to start . that way at least we can guide you based on your settings without wondering if its the software or the photos thats not good.

when you brightened it the the noise in the sky really became pronounced . when you try to lighten something thats to dark to start with, certain processes really make it more noticable then others and thats why i like shooting brighter and turning it down instead of darker turning things up.

Well ya know I didn't shoot the photo dark on purpose...I am just learning a new camera, and it's a bit different than the old one.
