This was a first for me... I frequently see these egret standing motionless in shallow water, working hard to catch minnows as they dart by. This one was casually strolling along a row of bushes, effortlessly picking off grasshoppers at its leisure. Evolution in progress, perhaps??
I am not sure. This picture was taken in “Neues Kranzler Eck“ in Berlin.
There are two aviaries in the inner courtyard of the grounds, which are 22 and 12 meters high respectively, and home to 110 exotic birds.
I am guessing that this is a Golden Chinese Pheasant.
