Who knew there were black squirrels? I certainly didn't. LOL
Great shot! There's a certain town in Illinois that I can't recall the name of that's famous for its black squirrels, and up in Brevard, NC, they're known for their white squirrels. My granddaughter would like to know where she can find the pink ones.

I did a google search just for fun and all I could come up with was the drink. I don't think that would be good for your granddaughter. LOL

There's a town in Wisconsin that has a lot of black squirrels Waupaca, Wi. Years ago, maybe forty, there was only one area of town that had a few. Now you see them all over town, and even ten-fifteen miles out of town. I know some were trapped and transplanted, a couple of guys I know did that.
I've never heard how the first ones got here or if it was just a natural evolution.
Back in Michigan we had a Black Squirrel that we called bubba. He/She was huge, and would rob our bird feeders, that's if he could make it to the feeder, the fat ol' boy he was.
My understanding is that gray and black squirrels are mostly the same, just the coloring.
Not exactly unusual, but I was testing out my new camera from inside the house and saw two squirrels in the tree in my front yard chasing each other and collecting walnuts. I don't have a telephoto lens anymore, so this is a major crop of a picture taken at 55mm:
It's a little noisy, but not nearly as bad as my old camera would have been at the same ISO setting (I can't remember if it was 400, 800, or 1600).

I didn't either until I moved down here and first time I saw one went WTH is that? Then I realized it was a squirrel (first thought it was like a really large furry rat )
