That is completely absurd. It is impossible for a Canon lens cap to fall off under normal conditions. Canon has had the same lens cap design for many years, and they use it on all their standard lenses from the cheapest ones to their best L lenses which cost thousands of dollars. (The only exception to this are specialized lenses like the super-telephotos, or fish-eye lenses which have specialized caps.) If the standard lens cap design "sucked" as you claim, they would not be one of the largest camera companies in the world. Did it ever occur to you that you might be doing something fundamentally wrong?

Here's my guess at your problem. Lens caps attach to the internal threads at the end of the lens which are also used for attaching filters. That is the same technique almost all manufacturers use, btw. As a guess, you are trying to attach the lens cap to an aftermarket lens or filter that has no internal threads. Correct? Well, that doesn't work. You can't use a factory lens cap on a filter or lens that has no internal threads to hold it on.

In the future, I would suggest learning how to use your equipment properly before proclaiming it "sucks".

All lens caps suck because they do come off in the bag? All lens caps, from all lens manufacturers, attach to the lens in similar fashion

I have canon lenses, Tokina lenses, and Tamron lenses: all of these caps work the same way. In fact I sometimes swap caps from one lens to the next. For example, last night I used a Tokina lens cap on my 400mm Canon lens.

Whoa, rephrase in order:
MY Canon caps seem to be- terrible. Especially the cap that came with my 50mm. After a year I'd hope it would stay on better, UV filter on or not. At times it irritates me enough that it crosses my mind. Just my personal experience with the lenses "I own", which happen to be both Canon, both filters have threads.

Which you raises a good question, perhaps my HOYA filters just suck?

Sorry!
