OK, I have a small digital camera that I bought a few years ago. Here is the camera I have now.

Amazon.com: SiPix SC3300 3.3 MP Digital Camera: Camera & Photo

It is ok and still works. I am looking to upgrade to a bit better cammera but really don't want to spend over $300.00. Is this asking to much, wanting to buy a fairly decent camera in that price range? What would all of you photo people suggest? I just want it to take pics of trips and family and such as that. I am not a great photographer by any stretch. This is a pic I took with the cheap digital I have now. Keep in mind it has been compressed to make it smaller for showing here.

You may want to look at last years models, which become much cheaper as the new models are introduced. You should be able to get a good name-brand model with decent resolution.

One you may want to place on your short list is the Canon SD800 IS. This is a small, pocketable cameras which were recently replaced by new models, and can be had for under $300. It has nice specs - 7.1 MP and a wide angle lense (28-105mm) that is great for group pictures.

Default Objective data

Buying a subscription to ConsumerReports.org - Find Product Reviews and Ratings from Consumer Reports is the best investment you could make. They test dozens of digital cameras each year and publish the results. They also provide good advice on what to look for in the camera you buy.
