Hey guys, I do photography on the side, and do not consider myself a professional by any means. I need ideas on how to get new businesses to be able to make money on the side.

Thanks.

Thanks for the link. Honestly, I see nothing in there that couldn't be taken by almost anyone with a smartphone. In this day and age where everyone is a photographer, photography is a very had sell. You need a portfolio that makes people stop and say "wow". My opinion only, but I think you need to beef up your skills considerably before you try marketing yourself as a photographer.

(You added text to your reply to me while I made my reply.)

So if you're not a photographer, why do you think people should pay you money?

it is never ending as to the amount of people who post here and want to know how to start a photography business but do not have the skill set yet to produce anything that is marketable.

i didn't see these pictures but just in general it seems anyone who has an infocus photo thinks they have markerable skills.

most do not and really need to get their skills in order and most important develop a critical eye that can spot what is wrong.

we have been into photography about 7 years or so and while marilyn and i still consider ourselves amateurs we look back at our early stuff and go what the heck were we thinking.

we thought it was really nice and yet today i wish i could make it vanish from where ever we posted.

we just became members this past weekend of our first camera club. talk about humbling , the skills many have are amazing.

we had a seminar with guru tim grey which was very good.

we are hoping to see a lift in our work from now going out with this club and being around such good photographers..

i know what you mean, it kind of just creeps up on you and all of a sudden your eye spots everything you don't like about what you were doing in the past.

as they say amateurs work at getting it right, pros work until they can't get it wrong.
