The polar vortex that has gripped the U.S. and Canada this week has led to some spectacular icy images. The latest come from Niagara Falls, which partially froze on Tuesday, when the high temperature was a record low of minus 2 degrees.
I have a few rolls of film somewhere that I took years ago when the falls and grotto were completely frozen over. Idiots actually walking on the crust below the falls,, My old images and film are in many giant plastic cases, it would take me months to go through everything. Thank God for cataloging programs like Lightroom, Elements or Picasa!
The most interesting thing to me, other than the frozen falls, was the silence. All of the water was flowing deep under the frozen crust. Those of you who have been to Niagara Falls know the thundering sound that is normally present
