Default New Zealand | A pictorial

After a year and a half in London, we moved to the South Island of New Zealand last month. Instead of posting various NZ pictures in different threads, I thought I'd just post them all in a single place throughout the year(s).

1. Sunset over the Southern Alps.

2. Feels strange to be in fall again.

3. The island is impossibly lush; everything from ferns to palms to pines, often in the same garden. Flowers and fruits growing in every garden.

4. The Pacific Ocean is a 20-min drive away; this is the closest I've lived to the sea/ocean (so far).

5. The countryside is gorgeous -- with green farmlands bordered by snowcapped mountains.

Coming up next...The Plains of Rohan...

We spent some time in Mount Maunganui on the North Island and loved it. We didn't want to ever leave...

Hah, yes - just couldn't pass up the chance to live at the edge of the world.

Made a quick day-trip to Lake Tekapo. Unbelievably turquoise waters (due to "rock flour"). It is also part of an International Dark Sky Reserve, so looking forward to going back for some night photography.

12. Road to Tekapo

13. Fall at the lake

14. The Southern Alps

15. The colours here in NZ are just so bright

Parts of NZ are practically tropical. Very wet, lush, and green.

16. Wet ferns on the trail

17. Moss growing everywhere

18. Sharplin Falls

19. View on a bike ride

20. The Canterbury Arch -- a sheet of clouds that accompanies warm weather

21. Caught a full rainbow the other day

22. Never seen it so bright and colourful
