I have a Canon A620. What do I need to do to get this to work with Windows 8?

If you don't have the CD with the software, go to Canon and download the software for it.

You can also download the manual.

So far I've had no problems with win 8 and my SX160is. Don't even use the software. Just plug in the data cable to the camera and a USB port and turn on the camera. Several options after that.

Someone mentioned a camera card. How does that work?

Are you referring to those SD memory card? Many of the newer computers now have SD Card Slot where you can just insert your SD memory card.

Or you connect your camera with data cable to the computer.

Both methods work for me even though i prefer the data cable. (too lazy to remove SD Card )

Your camera should have come with a card. Check the manual for how to install it. You will probably want to buy a bigger one if it came with the camera tho.

At work we used to use a card reader to download our pix. Nowadays I never use it. Just plug your camera into the USB port. The manual will also tell you how to do that.

The Canon A620 uses a "SD Memory Card", "MultiMediaCard"

the camera support page is at: Canon U.S.A. : Support & Drivers : PowerShot A620

Guides and Manuals are at: Canon U.S.A. : Support & Drivers : PowerShot A620

There are several related manuals/guides, I would download: PowerShot A620 / A610 Camera User Guide Basic first.

It looks like the A620 can handle a 1gb or maybe 2gb SD card. So get a USB card reader and a new card, because if you're using the original one that came with the camera it's probably way too small

Can I use a 4GB SD card in my Canon A620? - CNET Digital cameras Forums
