Hey all,

A month has gone by since I arrived home from backpacking through England, Scotland, and Wales, and, as you can imagine, I encountered many interesting pubs and bars along the way. It made me fascinated with the whole "pub culture" and the history behind many pubs and just the overall imagery of an old pub and the conversations that have taken place within the walls.

Therefore, I'd love to see pictures of pubs from the U.K., Europe, or around the world posted here. I've posted a couple of my own here form my trip

Thanks!

Deacon Brodie's pub, Edinburgh, Scotland. Deacon Brodie was the inspiration for Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde.

Greyfriar's Bobby's Bar, also in Edinburgh, named after the famous little dog who spent 14 years guarding his owner's grave. Both the dog and owner are buried in the Greyfriar's Kirkyard, just behind it.

Default My local

My local pub in Elgin . The thunderton house most of the building dates from the 17th century but parts go back to the 11th century. In the fourteenth century it was the palace of Thomas Randolph Earl of Moray and nephew of the great King Robert the Bruce.Charles Edward Stuart AKA Bonnie Prince Charlie stayed here before the Battle of Culloden 1745.The Jacobite Army were defeated with the loss of 2000 men and the Bonnie Prince fled back to France. The defeat at Culloden directly led to the highland clearances where 250,000 Highlanders were thrown off their lands. They served a wicked pint of Deuchars IPA as well.
