Camera advice:) (Canon, Nikon, Sony, cameras)

Right now I have a Sony Cybershot 7.2mp, however I want a new point and shoot to fit in my bag to go along with my Canon Rebel. I'm wanting something at least 7mp as I will use this for just out and about photos with friends, family that I will pretty much tag along all of the time. I was thinking about the Canon SD750, however I'm not wanting to put that much money into it. Wanting something basic, good reviews, user friendly, good quality. What point and shoot camera's do you suggest? No Nikon's please

I just bought the wife a Canon SD720 and she likes it. She was spoiled on the quick write time on our Rebel and is having a hard time getting used to several seconds wait between shots, but all in all it's been a great little camera. It's under $300 and a pretty good option. I think it's around 8.0MP with a 6x optical zoom. A lot of features and easy to use.

my cameras are the canon 40d and a canon s5IS - the s5IS is really not that big, but a very good back-up camera. if you want something more compact, maybe a canon G9? these are really good 'pocketable' cameras.
