Thanks, PJ8. This is the first time any dragonflies have let me get close enuff to use the macro mode on my camera. Usually, I could only get within about 5 ft.

Not a lot of 'bug' photography so far this summer due to the severe drought we're experiencing but did manage to get new pics of old friends. The butterfly pic was a bit of an experiment by using my Sigma 150 2.8 macro and a Sigma 1.4 TE. I think the TE preformed OK.

These and other things at Ivanq's Photos | SmugMug

Marine Blue - Leptotes marina
Nikon D7000 Sigma 150 2.8 macro+Sigma 1.4 TE - F/13 at 1/640 ISO 1000

Blue Dasher - Pachydiplax longipennis
Nikon D7000 Sigma 150 2.8 macro - F/13 at 1/400 ISO 400

This baby praying mantis (about 3" plus legs) was on my car when I left work this evening. Unfortunately, I didn't have my tripod handy, but managed to get a bunch of shots and a few keepers. I gently moved him to a tree after capturing him on the car, and the tree pictures actually came out better. Go figure!

On the hood of my car.

More comfy in a tree than on my car in the hot sun!

Angry wasp. Inadvertently hit her nest with the weed eater.
