Yes, we thank our lucky stars every day that we have the opportunity to be surrounded by such beauty!
However, it does have its downsides... Living in the Tongass means near constant rain... quite a bit of snow lately. No power when I woke up this morning! No roads in or out... Seems like most of the time there is simply too much cloud cover to get good pictures (it messes the light up) but when the sun comes out it is truly glorious!

I was in Juneau for 4 days this summer, clear and sunny all 4 days except for a little shower one day. It was amazingly beautiful. I didn't meet a lot of locals, mostly tourists. I was staying downtown in the hostel though.
