Unhappy What it is can't be validated

Ok,,, here’s the deal ~ I can’t get a conformation from the Chinese Cultural Center here in town and it would be unfair to continue this torture for everyone. When I photographed the item I had also asked the manager about it and was told it’s a Chinese Cake Box, where they bake cakes and place them into the box for delivery to customers.

Some of those guesses were great, but I don’t think anyone would ever come up with a cake delivery box so I’m just letting this one go as un-guessed because I myself haven’t validated the “what” it is. If anyone else finds a better answer please let me know, so for now I’m going with an old antique cake box.

(box is also 6 sided)

Notice the picture on the right I was also able to take while enjoying lunch.
Interesting reflections of a beer sign that was captured in the photo.

So that would give it six lower drawers and twelve upper ones, that thing must weigh around forty or fifty pounds at least. I wonder if the lower drawers would contain ice to chill the cakes?

There are 4 sections at the top, they appear to be drawers but I don’t believe they are. Each of those sections can be removed ~ I guess they just stack on top of each other. As for any sections in the base, those might hold something other then cake. I edited the last post to add a picture I also got while being there. Wonderful place to eat lunch.

Ahhh, a cake box but of course it is! lol. Very fun this one, and very hard...
Great job, and love the pic of the pic, looks like a real neat place to have lunch.
Thanks!

Not everything that LOOKS heavy is heavy. Remember China has lightweight woods. It’s amazing so see all of the delinquent artwork on the box. I have to try the beer next time I’m there,,,, the reflection of the sign in the picture of a picture was so cool to see several feet back ~ however I couldn’t take the shot from anyplace other then where I was at. And I sure didn’t want the customers to get upset. I don’t know I caught the guys ear and another small part of a head in the box shot. LOL I don’t think anyone will recognize them though.
