Right now I have an Olympus Camedia, 5 megapixels. I have had it like 4 or 5 years and it is beginning to have issues. I'd like to get a new camera with more magapixels that is a good camera. I take photos of everything from my children, to scenic, to Ebay items, you name it. I do enlarge pictures if I like them. Can anyone recommend some good digital cameras?

I use the Canon 10D and love it, it's easy to use and I think takes great pictures. Everything we have is Canon.

I use a Fugi S9100. It has 9 megapixels, a good 28 mm to 300 mm lense, macro as close as 0.4 inch, and is reasonably priced.

Here is a site that has reviews on the better cameras.

If you are an Olympus fan, like I am, then you might want to look into the E-510 w/2 lens kit for under $1000.00.....I just bought one and I love it!

We have a Nikon D300 with 12.3 megapixels. So far, two lens: 18-200 and 50 mm F1.8. Nice, nice shooter.

Nikon. Enough said. I've shot with them for over 35 years now, and not one has ever let me down.

Seriously though, if you have acquaintances who recently purchased new cameras, ask them how they like them.

There are soooo many new cameras on the market right now, its a really good idea to shop, shop, shop. And while its easy to order on line, nothing beats 'test drives' in a camera store, or places like Best Buy, where you can see the latest, and put your hands on 'em and decide which one is best for you.

But my first will always be anything Nikon makes. Fuji would be the second. But only if I can't get my hands on a Nikon.

Stay away from Samsung, Sanyo, and Polaroid....(I call those things 'roids' for a reason!)

I have a Kodak 7 mega pixel with a 12X optical zoom and stabalizer. Has a german lens and takes the best photos. My step son won a US Congressional photo contest with it.

Every person here will tell you the one he or she uses, but all these cameras do similar things. The differences are with the person or persons behind the camera. Look at entry-level cameras from Canon and Nikon:

Canon Rebel XTi, up to the the 40D
Nikon D40, D80, D200

Skip the cheaper kit zoom lens that comes with each, and buy a better quality zoom lens in 17-55 mm or so. At 17mm it provides you with a wide lens for landscapes and such, and around 50mm for taking pictures of people, your dog, etc. The next step is to save as much as you can, and buy the best zoom you can afford around 70-200mm or so, and then another zoom, or at least a prime around 300mm, with a 1.4x teleconverter. Also, buy a good quality (Hoya, B+W...circular polarizer for the lens that you plan to use for landscapes, cityscapes.

I "had" a Casio but sold it to a co-worker and purchased the new Canon PowerShot A590 IS:

Canon PowerShot A590 IS digital camera

The main reason I chose a Canon Powershot is because I need a camera with an optical viewfinder because outdoors it is near impossible for me to see anything on the display.

The A590 IS is perfect for me, very user-friendly, exceptional photos, I really like the IS (image stability) feature; and the camera is a good size for me: not too large or too small.
