Keep in mind, please, that I am on the lowest level of 'Novice' here.

How many times has there been a perfect scene, but, you have no camera?

Is that any worse than having a camera, and not getting a perfect capture?

I experienced the latter this morning. I thought that it was the perfect sunrise.

This had a bright morning star, high white clouds, low red clouds, light blues and dark blues, and some what of a design formation. In the back of my mind I thought, this would be most excellent if I could drive out away from the back yard trees. Well, I would lose this very moment for that.

I ran into the house from the back patio, this is about 645am, to get my camera. I thought I had checked my settings, but I was wanting this scene so bad, so I was rushing through.

No tripod, and shooting from the hip(hypothetically). I am still mourning about this.

I was on CA setting, with quick ?, and for some reason I used vivid?
My photo info was
1/8 sec F/3.5 18mm
ISO-3200(one of the problems, besides no tripod)

Well, if you can see past the bad, and see the missed goods, here is what my Texas Backyard Morning(645am-12/16/2018)sunrise looked like. Of course, most times, photos don't really capture what the eye and mind see. I think the vivid selection made for more RED than there really was.

It's just out of focus but you can tell your story with evidence. You can still show what your experience was that morning.. So to answer your question, no camera would have been worse.. Keep shooting
