I love photography and taking pictures but never got into it. I have a simple digital camera-- Here's my question: Sometimes my pictures come out very dark, other times nice. These are indoor pictures, What mode should I keep my camera on to avoid this? I have the standard modes, ISO, program auto and others..
Well, what camera do you have?? I'm assuming you have flash, correct? Can you manually set your camera?
To better understand how everything works, read manual for your camera, and also, learn about ISO/Shutter Speed/Aperture. Once you understand how the relationship between those 3 works, it will be a breath to make good pictures!!
Absolutely, read the manual....most every manufacturer out there now, gives really detail on how to use all the different settings, for various situations.
You can find some good books to accent your camera at Amazon. Look for the manuals by Simon Stafford. He gives better definitions of the buttons and features than the factory user manuals. Much more comfortable reading to me. Helps with the ISO/modes/apperture stuff.
