Can anyone recommend a decient Digital Camera as i'm going down to one of the big box stores and buy one. I don't want anything fancy or expensive but just something to take photo's of Southern New Mexico and/or my other travels around the USA and post them on City Data etc....Anything under $100.00 ??

Thanks for any advice on this.......

Check at Target. They have Polaroid DigCam with 6mp under $100! Good luck. Happy Shooting!

Hmmmm...well, I sell cameras for a living, so can I tell you something? If you buy a $100 camera, that's exactly what you're getting: a $100 camera. Most of the ones, $100 and under, have slower shutters, not as many features, and more often than not, we get them returned, because of those very reasons.

I would recommend, a Kodak 885, 8 mp, 5 optical, around $150, and its got some nice bells and whistles. The Fuji J10, is another nice one, 8 mp, 3 optical, and around $130.

Cheaper isn't always better. And I do not recommend Sanyo, or Samsung. They have the slowest shutters, and worst lenses! I'm not a huge fan of Polaroids either. I've seen too many of them come back with problems.

Sorry, Polaroid is the only one I can come up with under $100. I spent that on just the card. And speaking of cards, a 2gb SD can be had for $39. So, get as much memory you can get, or you'll be deleting a lot of good shots.

How to upload to Photobucket.

The camera you purchase will have instructions on how to load photos onto your computer.

We're happy to help! With the camera purchase you make, look at the company's website about instructions as well. Sometimes it's faster and to the point compared to a 3 inch booklet. Good luck and have fun in New Mexico. We loved ABQ and Las cruses! Bon Voyage!

Thats too cool that you've been there. When i move down to Southern New Mexico from Northern New Mexico in a few weeks or so i'm gonna take tons of pics of the mountain ranges and also of the Ghost Towns and old 1800's U.S. Calvary Forts along the Rio Grande.

Thanks again !!!!!

Have a fun trip.

Like everyone said, you get what you pay for.

Ideal things that you should examine are the following:

What optical zoom do you need?
-Many find 3X to be of little use.
-I bought a camera with 10X

What do you want to do with your pictures/photos?
-If you do photo editing, you may want a larger Megapixel camera so there is more detail in your photos. In my experience the number of megapixels does not pertain to just how large a photo you want to print. It is also how much you will zoom into an aspect of the photo.

Factor into the cost of your camera, the cost of accessories such as memory cards, extra batteries and memory card adapters.

If you are going on trips, you want something compact.

I decided that the camera that I chose fit the bill for me. It is compatible with the Panasonic Plasma TV that I bought.

This is what I got:

Digital Cameras: Panasonic Lumix TZ5 Is 10X Zoom Camera and HD Camcorder Rolled Into One
