Fedup - I can see the difference but for some reason, I prefer the shot taken with Live View. The colors are saturated better, and the sky is not as washed out. Notice that there is some blue left on the shot taken using LV. There is no blue at all in the second one. Maybe just a little tweaking is all it takes and you'll master it in no time. That LV feature is there for a reason and adds functionality to your camera. It would be a waste to not use it at some point.

Between the two, the one without Live View shows more details to the many trees. (I'll admit, I didn't take my time with the pictures for comparison, I just focused and snapped the shots between the two settings ) Maybe it's a feature that is geared towards tripod-required.

I would check the exif data on the two images...There is a difference in what? Shutter speed or aperture etc....The focus looks fine, but something is different. Much more contrast in the live view image.
