I normally leave my camera's ISO on "auto" and use flash on/off for when it's needed. There are time though when I have tried adjusting the ISO and find that the camera freezes up for a few/many seconds. I've checked in my manual to see why this happens and can't find a mention why?

Can anyone explain this?

If the setting you have chosen is out of range this can cause such a problem. More info is needed and even then it may be impossible to know what is happening without being on the spot when this problem is arising. Just guessing here. I really can't see ISO having anything to do with it unless you are trying to shoot to low of an ISO in low light with a fast shutter speed and not enough aperture to make the exposure. HTH.

I had my camera set on ISO 1600 - Av - f5.6 (that's the lowest it can go)

I am embarrassed to show you such a horrible picture, but there's a reason.....

I switched the exposure compensation all the way to -2 and here's what I came up with.... I learned how to do night shots!

You must underexpose if ya don't want the bright lights completely wash out sometimes. You have an extra wide latitude you are trying to capture. Makes it harder than a normal daylight shot....Keep at it..

It was amazing to know that I could actually take a night picture without the use of flash.
