I'm not much of a macro/close-up person, but here are a couple I've done in the past month.

All of the following picture were taken with a Canon PowerShot A590 IS, an 8MP consumer level pocket camera I purchased early this year for $109. I'm pretty sure I used the macro mode in all shots, but after turning the camera off and back on, I sometimes forget. Some were in full auto mode. Others were set to aperture preferred with the remaining settings in full auto. All shots were handheld with spontaneous selection of subject and little preparation. Every shot has been cropped for presentation to a greater or lesser degree. Very few frames were discarded altogether.
