I ventured into a little thing called "manual focus mode" with my macro lens. I took many shots, but I think I found that step of moving off "AF" mode.
(Going on the Honor System) please show off your pictures shot in manual mode.
I use manual focus about 80% of the time. Whenever I have a large aperture (to me that means f/8 or larger[lower number]) or a fast shutter speed (in Bulldawgfan's world that means 1/10 of a second or faster) I manually focus. I am guessing I do this because of depth of field considerations. I think the camera is too good at seeing what I do not. On the other hand, when I have a small hole size and/or a slow shutter speed I let the camera focus for me. I do not have a remote trigger yet (damn that Santa) so I use my timer a lot in these situations. With my largest lens the 'nearest' I can focus is like five feet nine inches... so my "macro" shots with this lens come from about six feet away. Here is one
Fedup - all my shots are in manual focus already...can't show any new ones. Bulldawg, the remote shutter release is on my shopping spree list. First I have to procure my monitor calibrator (hopefully for free), the spare battery is next, the remote shutter release after that.
