I am watching President Trump trying to do a press conference but these crazy photographers think they need a thousand pictures. Why? But the other problem is that technology allows excellent pictures without a noisy SLR. If I was in charge, I would ban the noisy cameras. What say you.

I'm pretty sure my camera allows me to mute the sound of the shutter release.

It's not the sound of the shutter release but the "slapping" sound when the mirror flips up and down to take a shot with DSLRs. Mirrorless cameras don't need the mirror (hence the name) and is a lot quieter but still some mechanical noise from the shutter moving. Some have a silent shutter mode that is completely silent but has it's own drawbacks (rolling shutter, banding).

DSLRs are still very common in photojournalism and sports photography so to ban them would essentially prevent the majority of photographers to shoot at these events. Not everyone can just dump thousands of dollars worth of photography gear for a new system just to be able to shoot silently.
