Hello blueflames50-

Every 5 years or so, I cut off my ponytail and get a conservative, conventional haircut. Almost ceremonially, I have the haircutter tie the tail up tightly to my head
with a scunci hairband and cut it off where it becomes a remnant of my "Willy Nelson" years. My last tail was sheared off upon the death of my son-in-law, sort of like the
Yakuza cutting off the pinky in a measure of sacrificial tribute. I've got about three of them in my collection, no, not pinkies but ponytails. The last one was pinned to my
desktop backwall as kind of a reminder of my vanishing youth and set there, (while I go bald), keeps me remembering that yes, I once had a great crop of hair!

I'm pleased that you studied the photo enough to notice every detail, the camera that you see is my Olympus E510 and the photo was taken as I was testing my new
(at that time), Nikon D5000 shortly after the unboxing. I guess that a photo like that is about as "random" as they get, huh? Well at least it qualifies at that calling. Thanks
for viewing it and leaving a comment, I'm posting another one from my collection below...

Her brother was born this month! They're both keepers. a lot of people store up earthly treasure, being that I'm bound for that great eternal beyond, it's the great-grandchildren
who'll send me there with a smile of satisfaction upon my cosmetically restored dying face. these are treasures that remain for a time under the sun. when only the eyes of my departing
heart can see. it's nice to hear from you sanspeur, in a way I feel akin to you because I have every belief that we are cut from the same kind of cloth, a fabric that has been replaced
by the synthetic nature of a generation that no longer identifies with people like you and I, those who have been consigned to the tar-pits of a generation gone. Ironically, I used to have
no patience with the older generation, until I became the older generation. Not wanting to weight down my comment to you with the superfluous chatter of quoting F-stops, my camera
settings, exposure times or ISO ratings, I'll conclude by just saying again, thank you for noticing and for feeding back into my world.

Here's the latest great-grandchild, Jared Peter...
