Fantastic shot!

This picture was taken with an older model cell phone a while back at Sanchez Park in Ormond Beach on the Tomoka River, we were fishing in our canoe and the mama and baby manatee hung around us, so close we could reach out and touch them...

Default Reprocessed crop of Messier 42 and Messier 43

Reprocessed cropped image of Messier 42 and Messier 43 (the core of the Great Orion Nebula) I took on 02/12/2012, from the Louisville Astronomical Society's observatory , in curby, Indiana (using my equipment). It is a composite HDR image with a total exposure time of 50 minutes and 10 seconds.

If you look closely at the core of the nebula where the four trapezium stars are located, you can see little gray blobs surrounding those stars. Those are the proplyds (protostars) that show up in the Hubble image of this object. When I started this project, I never imagined I could get this level of detail. Considering the poor seeing conditions that night, I it a wonder I got anything worthwhile. Can't wait to try this one again next year.
