take a good picture for the adoption website of my midnight black foster dog with a digital camera. She is so black that I can't seem to get a clear picture of her inside or outside, especially inside. She is 55 pounds and a heinz 57, maybe German Shepherd Dog, Lab, ? mix. Thank you for your suggestions!
You probably would want to take he outside, not on the bright sun, but in a nice soft daylight. I'll say around early morning or late afternoon. Get down to her level and shoot. And of course, let us see the picture! You can always edit it any editing software, or any of us can help with that.
Not sure how your current attempts are coming out (maybe post an example), but assuming that your background is properly exposed and the pup is too dark, you could try setting your camera to spot metering and meter on the dog. This might blow out the background, but should get you more detail of your subject.
Yep, shoot on an overcast day, not a sunny day - if that's not possible, find some open shade. I don't know what equipment you have but you could also try using a fill flash. If that's not possible and you're still struggling, you may need a camera that allows you to set manual exposure - what camera are you using?
