Ok, it seems from browsing that it's been a while since anything was devoted JUST to spiders, so if it's ok, I'd like to start up one for spider pics. It's the Halloween season, after all.
Post your best shot, and remember to watermark it if you consider it valuable so it's not "gleamed" by web searches and used elsewhere.
My pic today:
These go by names that range from Banana Spider to Writing Spider and others. They get BIG. This one is several inches long, and she just built a web right next to my security lights outside. Funny how smart these things are - they know that bugs fly around those lights, so that's where they build a web. Brains.
Does a high white spider ball count?? It's the only spider I have!
Um... unless you show him eating a spider, no, it doesn't count. LOL
I came home later and she/it was still there. The first pic was taken with a Canon 40D and turned out well. This one below was taken with an old Fuji S7000 which kind of blew stuff out with the flash even on lowest power, but I wasn't about to get REAL close to it to do macro/no flash...
Ok - mine's done. Post yours, folks.

This is a Black Widow preparing a lunch of ants. Wrapping them up with silk!. We have had them around the house
before, but not in the open like this. This web was from the curb to the bumper of my truck which was unusual, It was
a windy day, so everything was shaky, the web was shaking, live ants were crawling everywhere. There was a large
ant colony next to the curb of my front yard. I took this picture in September, Rio Rancho, New Mexico

Rich/Poncho, that is an incredible photo of the black widow preparing her prey!
Every since moving to South Carolina, I've developed a fear of spiders just knowing that black widows and brown recluse spiders are quite common in this area. I have no desire to photograph one, much less even see one, but I'm glad you did!

Spiders have always scared me, but over time I just learned to be able to watch them (I'm in my 60's). The distinct marking on the Black Widow is on the underside, so it's hard to get a good shot of their undersides. I find them outside our house so I check for their nests frequently. This was an unusual location and their webs don't normally span a foot or so as this one did. This nest was less than a day old.
