I don't post much in the Photography forums, but have seen some really nice shots from people. Didn't see any threads like this, so I'm curious to know what gear everyone is using?

To me it was worth getting the teleconverter and the wide converter lenses. The S3 is a 12x zoom but the teleconverter brings it up to a 19x and at a wide angle, the S3 is 36mm (using 35 mm equivlance numbers) the wide converter brings it down to a 29 mm (using 35 mm equivalence numbers).
So what this means is it brings it almost to what an SX 10 IS can do in telephoto (20x optical zoom) and wide angle (28 mm using 35 mm equivalence numbers).
Depends on what I plan on doing or where I am going. I have 2 bags I use and fill them according to what I might need for the outing or trip.
The smaller one I just have my:
Sony a-200
Sony 18-70 stock lens
Minolta 70-210 "beercan"
My older 500mm (I think a cheapo Tamron)
a Doubler (have no idea what manufacturer)
The USB patch cord
and lens cloths, sensor brush, and a couple other cleaning things.
and a notebook with pencil
The big bag has all the above plus:
a small tripod
The charging unit
A handful of filters
A bunch of adapter rings
Owners manual
extra notebook
a set of SpectralStar filters and effects filters with lens adapters
an extra 28-70mm Minolta lens
I like the glass filters and effects sometimes over what I can do with PhotoShop for some shots. I cannot put my finger on why, or even what is different, so don't ask me to explain why. They just look different to me (could be because I am still on the uphill side of the learning curve for PhotoShop and am used to the filters)
The bags themselves, my DW hates with a white-hot burning passion. She keeps threatening me that she is going to burn the damn things one day and replace them with "respectable" camera bags. The big one is a padded soft sided tackle box I cut and fit padding for each item, and the small one is a small soft sided cooler. I like them because I can go anyplace and nobody looks twice at them. I mean, who wants to steal somebody elses sandwich or would think a nasty old tackle box would have anything more than nasty old fishing tackle in it? Even if the tackle box is out of place, it the poor bugger can't afford a real camera bag, who wants the beat up 1.2Mp point and shoot and other crap that they would haul around in it. Surely nobody would carry good stuff in anything that nasty looking .
It depends on what bag, in my DSLR bag if I had room for all my lenses and filters it would be a Digital Rebel, Tokina 12-24mm, Sigma 15-30mm for full frame digital or 35mm, Tamron 28-75mm f2.8,
Canon 70-300mm I.S., Canon 70-200 f4L I.S., 300 f4L I.S., Tamron 1.4X teleconverter and a bunch of graduated neutral density filters and holders. Will be adding a Canon 5D mkII to use in place of my medium format cameras when I catch up on my other projects. My Medium Format bag would be 2 Bronica ETRSI bodies, 40mm PE, 45-90mm PE, 75mm 125-250mm and a Fuji GSW690II.
Everything I have is around my shoulder, or in my hand.
Pentax K10D
Pentax 18-250 lens, no filters, haven't found any I like much.
And most important to me, my monopod. My stabilizer, my walking stick, my leaning post...
Canon SX10is......
USB Cable an Owners Manual
UV~CP 58mm Hoya filter and Lens Mate adapter
Lens Pen
Zeiss Lens Cleaning wipes....
SLIK Pro 700DX Tripod w/ pan head & sling bag.. "The beast" ! 8+ hunk-in pounds of metal. Steady as a rock.....
Tamarac kit bag.
