I thought there was a thread for this already but I sure could not find it so I started one.

Here is one I took recently.

Blondie, FYI, if you had gone to the second "sticky" in the Photography Forum and scrolled down one thread, you would have found Brill's list of topics and assignments. There are two beach threads in there.

I know you didn't ask for a critique, but I'm going to give you my two cents anyway. If I had been taking this shot, I think I would have tried to get closer (or zoomed in some more). I like the water that's on part of the beach, but because the clouds are so dramatic, I probably would have included more clouds and less of the plain sand in the foreground. Your horizon also doesn't appear to be level. I sometimes get so excited about the composition that I forget to check for that, but you can straighten it and crop in PSE.

Sorry, I did not think to look under the sticky. I went thru about 6 pages and gave up and started one.

That shot was one of most of my beach shots taken while driving. I could not even see in the lcd screen so that pic like many others was pot luck. After I uploaded it, I saw exactly what you did, a crooked horizon and too much sand in the foreground. With my Canon editing software I cannot straighten the horizon out. All of my on land composed beach shots etc., the first thing I check for is for a straight horizon.
I have to check Picasa and see if I can straighten this one out in there.
Edited version...

Thanx PhotogGal!

Here are a couple from around my area. All taken on Lake Michigan within a few miles of the Ludington, MI area. The last one is in an area that a small bluff runs right down into the lake and there is just a narrow band of beach there.

I have a bunch of beach pics in this forum, but these are recent, within the last couple weeks.

This was an early morning triathlon last weekend
