I just bought a set of new Kodak brand AA rechargeable batteries for my Z700 digi camera and thus far they are not showing any signs of charging up. Camera has been sitting in its Kodak dock for about 2 hours now; what concerns me is my original batteries that came with it new would recharge fairly quickly, just that they are now old (almost 4 years old).

Do I need to by an a la carte charger or simply let this camera take its time? According to the Kodak website...........it can take up to 8 hours for the batteries to charge. What I find odd is despite the 'power' light being on; none of the green 'charge' lights are lit on the dock.

Double-check the batteries are inserted correctly to the camera. Also check to make sure the power supply plug is firmly inserted into the base and the camera is likewise docked firmly.

I did just that (clocking the batteries correctly) and; I put the original ones back in which caused the green 'charge' light strip to come back on. It is as if these replacement ones are simply junk (or defective).

They're probably still charging. After two hours, I would expect them to power-up the camera. Do they at this point?

The new batteries will take much longer to charge than the old batteries, due to the fact that the old batteries will not be taking a full charge any more.

The new batteries were in for 12 hours and still did not do squat. Unless since they are stone dead (for shipping reasons) I will need to buy a charger and juice 'em up first.

I said the hell with it and returned the batteries to where I bought them and purchased the Kodak battery charger package (with the same style of cell) instead. Especiaclly factoring in this thing included a 12V car power cord as well.

I will update once these damn things charge up.

Well: camera now works.

I took a good look at the original battery pack; and, come to find out............there is a plastic insert that the two OEM batteries were glued to. Pried 'em off and inserted the new batteries alongside the insert and the camera is now charging off the dock.

Go figure. I am surprised that Kodak omitted that detail when attempting to use new Kodak batteries in a Kodak camera.
