Default Four Parts of Plum Boro.. what are they and good area?

Hi, we are under contract for land in Plum Boro, however I was told this "part" was East Oakmont, it is really close to the famous golf course. I was told Plum is one of the largest areas and people put it in Four Parts. They will ask what part of plum do you live? Is East Oakmont a good part? We are building a really nice ranch home, and plan on being there for some time. I want to live in a down to earth area, but I also don't want to be building in the wrong part of town. I am currently in one of the best school districts, but plum has a gifted program and the schools seem better than seneca valley, where we were looking for land previously. We are still under contract awaiting the perc test, so I would love some feedback on the area.

Plum overall is a good area. I used to live out that way, but you may want to read the article about the increases in taxes expected to hit the area.

The district's payment to PSERS is expected to increase from nearly $700,000 this year to $5 million by the 2014-15 school year. The payment increases to $5.5 million by the 2019-20 school year.

I suppose you could say, East Oakmont, Renton, Center, and Holiday Park. All of which are a good areas, IMO. The whole borough has a good rap and never sees much crime. Anything Plum should have a mailing address of Pittsburgh, PA 15239...

Thanks for the article on the teachers, it looks like that might happen everywhere then and I live in a higher tax area as it stands at the moment. I use to bartend part time when I first moved here, it was a high end martini bar. I was amazed at the designer hand bags, diamond rings that the teachers wore. I moved here from Colorado, and the difference in pay is staggering. I think everyone's pensions have been hit, some even taken away, look at some of the pilots that had there contracts sold out and lost pensions. My husband works for a fortune 500 company, his 401k was hit, I am not sure I agree with what is going on regarding pension stuff with the teachers, we have all been hit by the stock market. I know a lot of debate has gone on with older teachers, regarding work ethic vs payment and tenor, you can get lazy when you have tenor. Perhaps tenor should be evaluted every 5 years, make sure you are doing your job, but that is another blog..

Where specifically is the property located? Hulton Road is the main road. If you have to cross the RR tracks and descend down a winding hill it is section 8.

It is at the RR Tracks on a very private road that goes along the RR tracks before the section 8 housing.
It is before the mobile home sight as well, what do you think?

East Oakmont is more like a part of Oakmont than it is Plum. People have moved there from Oakmont because of the lower taxes and not so bad school system. Where you are moving is almost unknown. People don't drive up that road unless they live there. The business district of Plum is far away and congested.
