Even though the hills bring narrow streets, I love how they offer so much green space throughout the city. People who come here from California are usually amazed at Pittsburgh greenery. Not many cities have large hillsides of trees right across from the skyscrapers.

I feel the same way in flat regions. For instance, I find driving through Ohio very boring.

My husband, from Nebraska, finds the Pittsburgh area "landlocked". Now I love my husband, but what is Nebraska if not "landlocked"? I think what he really means is he feels claustrophobic with the trees. Many westerners, including my DD, feel this way. They have to see the horizon.

Read my other posts and you'll find I've been one of the steadiest supporters of Pittsburgh (although not as manically as others).

All that I was trying to point out with this thread is that the excitement I feel towards moving to Pittsburgh has been tempered somewhat by staying in DC for awhile.

While I understand it's not exactly fair to compare the two, I simply wanted to contrast the feeling of space and openness I felt in DC vs. the claustrophobia I felt in Pittsburgh.

As for the freaky rain, I understand it gets quite uncomfortable in DC in August with the heat. So maybe freaky rainshowers on an otherwise nice day isn't so bad.

This is all I'm going to say to defend myself.

This is a silly thread. Instead of comparing Pittsburgh and DC, let's compare a Toyota Prius and a Chevy Suburban. I thought we could all contrast the space and openness that I feel in a Suburban vs. the claustrophobia that I feel in a Prius.

They're totally different cities.....different topography, different infrastructure, different architecture, different climate. I'm sorry, I'm missing the point of your compare/contrast exercise.

I vote for eggs. Yes. Eggs vs. shrubbery. In the eggs vs. shrubbery match, eggs will win everytime. I quite like eggs. I mean shrubbery is great, don't get me wrong, but eggs? C'mon.

Try being blind and having someone feed you eggs when you were expecting peaches and you'd be voting for shrubbery.

After the blindness/eggs/peaches incident, it was 18 years before I ate another egg.

Funny how bad things taste when you expect something else. I remember taking a sip of soda that I thought was iced tea... Yuck! And I normally like soda.

By the way I vote for shrubbery. Bring me a shrubbery or I shall say "Ni" unto you!
