Default Forest Hills---Good homes---Safe?

We are still looking for the best areas to live in Pittsburgh. So far, we are looking at Plum, Edgewood and now, perhaps, Forest Hills. What are your thoughts about this area?

Nice middle class area, good homes and safe. The biggest negative there is that it's part of Woodland Hills SD, which sucks. The district is huge, has a lot of violence, problems with ghetto thugs going there, and a lot of racial tension. It's a good school for athletics. But, overall, it's just a disaster and I'm sure it doesn't help the resale value of a home. All the people I know from Forest Hills went to private school, mainly Central Catholic and Oakland Catholic. It's a nice area, but I'd imagine that if it were part of a better school district it would be an even more desirable area.

I'm partial to Edgewood because it's close to where I live and close to the city limits. Big beautiful old homes, shady tree lined streets, very quiet.

Forest Hills is a decent area and the people and local government work hard to keep it that way!

I live at the "bad" end of Forest Hills (bordering on Braddock Hills) and I have amazing neighbors and a super-safe, quiet neighborhood. You can get a lot of house for your money in Forest Hills. Great location too. I'd definitely recommend it.

I hang out in Forest Hills during lunch time and people there are always very friendly and warm.

It's an OK neighborhood in a lousy school district.

I lived in the small neighborhood of Chalfant, which is adjacent to Forest Hills. It was very quiet and safe. It's proximity to the east end was also a plus.
