Hello all. I will be starting a new job in a couple of weeks at an office right near the PIT int. airport in Moon. I am currently in the central part of Westmoreland county, late 20's, single male--and I was wondering where I should get an apartment at? I have no pets and my max in terms of rent would be 675-700. Is it better to live close to the city, or out near the robinson/moon township area? How is the nightlife near the airport area compared to the city? Thanks for any info you can give me!

Are you really a showercurtainringsalesman? I bought a set of bad shower curtain rings this year. They are almost too tight for the bar they sit on, so they fall off all the time when I pull the shower curtain open or closed. I never heard of shower curtain rings not working before.

I'm sorry, I don't really know much about the area you're looking in, but if I were going to be driving during rush hour, I'd want to live as close to work as possible. A friend of mine knows all the back roads out that way. One saturday, he was driving me to the airport, and PennDOT was fixing the Parkway. We just zipped in and out of neighborhoods until we were at the airport. It might even have been quicker than the Parkway when it's not being fixed.

First, I'd probably check on Craigslist because you can find decent places to rent in your price range around the Airport area that are owned by an individual, rather than a company. Look into places in North Fayette (also could be Imperial or Oakdale), Robinson, Moon, and I'd look into Crafton, as well. Crafton would be a nice half way point between the city and the Airport so you could be near the best of both worlds.

However, for living with people around your age, I'd check out Chestnut Ridge which is right off the Parkway (Ridge Road exit). Not sure if they'll meet your price range but worth looking into. Chestnut Ridge Apartment Homess

For a little cheaper, check out Walden Woods condominiums in North Fayette Township.

Other places (might be pricey):
Ventana Hills
Highlands at Montour Run
Waterford Landing, Moon Township
The Polo Club, Moon Township

As for nightlife comparing these areas vs the city...well, obviously the city is going to win out. More to do, more diversity, more areas to explore, etc.

For areas out around Robinson, you could find people in their 20s hanging out at Cadillac Ranch most evenings. Mad Mex, Buffalo Wild Wings, Downey House are also options in the Robinson area. Moon has Robert Morris University, so you could possibly get into activities there with students around your age. Like I said, the city would probably win on this one. You could also consider living in parts of the city and commuting to work via back roads if that would be better for you. Like Jay said, there are several back roads you can take that can be quicker than the Parkway from Downtown to the Airport.
