I take the Red Line from Mt. Lebanon to downtown on a fairly regular basis and it takes roughly 20 minutes, max. It's not that slow.

im not 100% up to whats happening with PAT, but i applaud them for making the painful changes that probably should have been implemented some time ago. its a fact -its an inefficient enterprise. service needs to be cut, period.

there are people here who have lived in many other places - how does PAT compare? is it THAT bad to be ridiculed? i thought not, but what do i know.

i heard some 15 years ago that only ONE transit system in north america was not 'in the red'. i believe it was Bay Area Rapid Transit. that reference is surely dated.

wow - talk about 'digression'.

I've never lived anywhere where people didn't complain about their local transit authorities--not that complaining about PAT is necessarily unwarranted, but I don't think they are worse than typical, and recently in fact I think they have been doing some good things. To be sure, I've lived in places with better overall transit service, but they were much bigger, much denser places (like Chicago and DC), so that isn't really a fair comparison.
