If Pittsburgh got a few 500-600 foot tall buildings in the gap between the southern and northern halves of the Golden Triangle as well as some more 300-400 foot tall buildings especially towards the new Consol Center, then I could see it rivalling Lower Manhattan in terms of appearance and not square footage especially since you have the rivers surrounding this "peninsula" giving the illusion that it's on an island like Manhattan.

skyscrapers can block out the sky and cause a 'canyon' effect. i always thought of our city as a delicate work of art, not to be too hastily tampered with.
yes, buildings like that are great for the skyline, but for everyday living and working, they can be oppressive.

I'm still waiting for them to finish the lighting on the top of the Mellon building. It looks dark and incomplete right now. I miss the bright green letters.
