I just don't understand how people can honestly believe that the Pirates will ever have a winning season. They suck.

very true...at least we lose with crappy teams and $30M payrolls, the Mets lose with All Stars and $150M payrolls. Toss in the fact that you're a constant "who cares" due to the Yankees...and you very well may have the worst job in all of baseball. Definately a toss up between them and us for that one.

Or the Reds or Brewers, right in the Pirates division.

All 3 teams are proof that to win without a $200 million payroll, you just need a GM with a plan, a good minor league development program and some luck in the draft.

Seriously, do you think our GM doesn't have a plan in place? We have been building through the draft for years. It hasn't worked because we have been unwilling to draft and sign the top prospects. Our payroll is over 20 million less than the Rangers, half of the Reds payroll, and 47 million less than the Brewers. Didn't the Rays lock up Longoria after a month or so in the big leagues? If we had a plan in place we would be locking up our "stars" already.

Baseball needs to level the field like football has.

On a more up beat note. It was fantastic that almost a year ago, film of the 1960 World Series game 7 were found in the basement of Bing Crosby's home. Fortunately he couldn't bear to watch so he left the country and was in Paris and had the game taped in kinescope. A lost piece of baseball history has been recovered.

A night to remember a memorable game

I wonder why we've had the clip of Maz's homerun but not of the game?
