BB-I think a lot of people overlook the fact that "not many people want to take a bus from the east coast to chicago" reall means "a small proportion" and a small proportion of those two populations is still a good amount of people. the first time I told a friend from California that there were 117 buses a day between Philly and NY he was astonished. (and that's on top of airline shuttle service, 3+ intercity trains an hour, and 1 or two commuter trains an hour)

Well you not depending on the NY-Chicago traveler completely...you'd still have the NYC-Pittsburgh, Pittsburgh-Cleveland, Cleveland-Chicago travelers supporting that same trip....

In these economic times bus travel has been all the Rage.....The Low Fares, the Less Hassles, the quick/convenient options to book tickets, the much fast service, Free Wifi to boot. It's a new culture riding the buses now.

What? Theres 6 Intercity Trains per hour and 8 trains per hr if you count NJT and Septa during peak hr.....4700 > 6200 by 2030 trains operate on the Northeast Corridor core network carrying about 750,000 passengers.

you mean 6 intercity trains per hour in each direction or 3x2? the nec numbers don't mean anything in the context I was using because they include all kinds of service (wilmington, marc, njt without connecting trains, etc).

anyway, what's up with your map? pittsburgh is twice as big as buffalo.

Each direction , on the Northeast corridor and 2-4 on the Keystone and New Haven lines , 2 on the Virgina network. Though Amtrak wants to increase all of that.
