Pgh is a very unique city and we are so happy to be moving back, finally! I love the different villages and I personally feel it works best this way, it has for a long time, and when you live down south and see what i have in some areas, I have come to realize that pgh has something good, no something great!!!!

What is considered "East Pittsburgh"; I've seen it referred to as an actual neighborhood or borough, is that correct?

Yes, it is an actual borough. It is in between Braddock and Turtle Creek.

Honestly, there's a list here with about HALF the area on it, so if people avoid travelling to or thru or patronizing the businesses IN HALF THE AREA, then I could see the areas of poverty actually expanding from there, in the future...

rather than avoid them altogether, maybe there should be a concerted effort to patronize the businesses IN those areas, so as to help them provide stability anchors for the areas they're in, which would, in turn, help bring about neighborhood change, as adventurous urbanites move into those areas.

Just a thought... not trying to stir the pot or anything...

Now that I think about it, there aren't too many places I avoid. Homewood, the Hill District, and parts of the North Side, but all of these places aren't really that bad, I just wouldn't flash a lot of bling if I were walking around there.

It's more a question of avoiding the wrong type of person who walks around these neighborhoods and not leaving valuables visible in your car. Unlike some cities, you really have to be looking for trouble around here to find it.

Homestead? New Castle? Millvale? Get a grip.
